It’s been two years and the Conception Day-shaped hole in our hearts has become no less painful, and the flop that was FAME Festival still makes us cringe. But could this new event coming up in mid-September help Macquarie get its mojo back?
The Macquarie University SRC has just released the details of mini-festival RE: Conception. On Thursday 15 September, a ramped-up Ubar party will kick off with the sounds of Didier Cohen, Ember, A-Tonez and Samrai, and Aussie house DJ Timmy Trumpet with headline the event. Known for throwing out live trumpet solos over his sets, he was ranked the #1 Australian DJ by music site inthemix last year and has played alongside the likes of Dizzee Rascal and Fatboy Slim.
Tickets are $17.90 for students, $33.30 for non-students and are available here.
Friday will be a free festival-style event by the lake, featuring live acoustic performances, bars and food trucks. The line-up features DJ Nino Brown, Furnace and the Fundamentals, and indie-rockers San Cisco.
So it’s not quite Conception Day, but it’s a hell of a step-up from FAME Festival. And at the end, we’re promised fireworks! Head here for the RE:Conception day Facebook event and more details.
