King Street Crawl

Crawl, stagger, meander or groove down King Street for a celebration of music and art on Newtown’s main drag. Showcasing local venues and music acts, this annual event is centred around the Newtown Social Club, which will host performances from Grinding Eyes, The Maladies, and Shrapnel & Fan Girl.

Sydney Sacred Music Festival

A celebration of music and religious expression from all corners of the globe, the Sydney Sacred Music Festival is a moving and dynamic cultural experience for those who are spiritual or otherwise. The festival kicks off at Prospect Hill with a performance from internationally renowned didgeridoo player William Barton.

De Wafel Food Truck

If you see a vintage caravan on campus this week, don’t freak out – it’s not a pair of grey-nomad hippy invaders, but rather a food truck selling fresh waffles smothered in caramelised sugar and other toppings of your choice. Look out for the attractive Belgian dude behind the counter. (Damn, there’s that saliva again).

Story Club at Giant Dwarf

Grab a drink and gather around the metaphorical fireplace at the Story Club at Giant Dwarf. It’s kind like Humans of New York, but in real life! Poets, peasants and premiers have all shared their stories at the monthly themed get togethers. The theme of this month’s gathering is ‘Learnt the Hard Way’. Haven’t we all?

Perform at Oxjam 

This semester, Oxfam Macquarie University are hosting their first OXJAM gig. It’s a DIY music gig and all the proceeds go towards fulfilling Oxfam’s vision of creating a world free from poverty. In order to achieve this, they’re on the lookout for home-grown talent on our campus.  If you’re in a band, a singer, DJ, hit them up!
